Grants

You are here:

We help young people up to and including the age of 25 that either have a diagnosed mental health illness or are at high risk of suffering a mental health illness.

Our grants are aimed at helping young people with their confidence, self esteem and recovery from their illness and the pressures that young people are faced with during these difficult times.

Are you eligible?

To be eligible to apply for our grant scheme you either have to be diagnosed with a mental health illness or be at high risk of suffering from a mental health illness.

You must also get a professional supporter fill in a section of the application form to confirm that you either have a diagnosis or that you are at high risk.

How much you can apply for?

You can apply for a grant of up to £150

What can you apply for?

We will look at any grant request that relates to the need of the young person that has applied. This can be for anything that they feel will help them in their recovery such as for music lessons or musical equipment, sport activities or equipment, swimming lessons, ice skating, cinema visits, transport to and from a youth group or educational courses, just to give you a few ideas.

When applying think about what would make a difference to you and your life. We try and help as many young people as we can so please only apply for one thing at a time.

Due to our limited funding we are unable to help with requests where statutory agencies (such as local authorities or the NHS) has a responsibility to provide the item needed.

Apply for a Grant

To apply for a grant download the application form, which includes guidelines that will help you and your professional supporter to fill in the form.

We can only accept one application per household and we can only help a young person once every 12 months. If you are awarded a grant your award letter will include the information about when you can next apply.

If you are unsure about any of the information provided or need further help please get in touch with us via our Contact Form.

What happens next

It usually takes around 3 months for us to complete an application but this is approximate and not guaranteed. The actual time to deal with an application will depend on the volume of applications we have and the funding we have available at any particular time.

What can hold up an application?

If an application form is incomplete or missing copies of the required documents, then the application will be returned for completion. We are unable to consider an application until it is received fully completed.

When looking at the application we may need to request further information.  If we require additional information we will make contact by phone or in writing. This information will be required in order for us to continue to consider your application.

Successful applications

When your application is approved you will be notified by letter. The grant money will be paid directly to a company, organiser, or tutor of the activity that you have applied for.

If your application is unsuccessful

A young person can ask for any decision on an application to be reconsidered. This is called an appeal. If you are not happy with the decision on your application, please contact the Grants Manager asking for the decision to be looked at again, giving your reasons and any additional information.

Appeals and complaints must be made within two months of the date of the decision.

We strive to ensure that all appeals and complaints are:

To make an appeal or complaint please contact our Grants Manager.
